WCTC to be recognized for promoting hiring of veterans

NEW BRUNSWICK - WCTC radio, "The Voice of Central Jersey," will be recognized Jan. 5 by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve of New Jersey (ESGR) for its role in promoting the hiring of veterans.

WCTC will receive a personalized statement of support from the Guard and Reserve in acknowledgment of the station’s efforts in promoting this vital and important cause.

Representing ESGR at the ceremony will be New Jersey ESGR State Chairman Col. Alan Smith, USMC, retired. He will be recognizing WCTC as a "National Employer Patriot" and presenting a Seven SealsAward for the station’s efforts in support of New Jersey’s service members. Bert Baron, WCTC program director, brand manager and host of "New Jersey Today," will accept the award on behalf of the station.

WCTC had previously joined the entire Greater Media New Jersey family of radio stations for a veterans-only job fair in November at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, and was the only participating station to broadcast live.

"This is a great honor for WCTC," Baron said. "Our brave men and women give so much of themselves in defense of our freedoms. It’s the least we can do, and we’re truly humbled to receive this recognition."

WCTC Station Manager Dan Henrickson added, "Our veterans deserve the best opportunities that our great nation has to offer. They are one of our true assets. Our futures were entrusted to them."

The award will be presented at 1 p.m. Jan. 5 at WCTC’s studios, 78 Veronica Ave., Somerset.
