The new Wild Bird Center opened at 1410 Forest Drive in Annapolis with an official ribbon cutting ceremony held yesterday.
The Wild Bird Center of Annapolis is a unique retail business offering customers a wide range of nature related products including premium quality bird seed, bird feeders, bird houses, optics, wind chimes, bird baths and a distinctive variety of gifts to appeal to customers who wish to be more connected with nature.
"With more than 400 different species of birds in Maryland, the Wild Bird Center of Annapolis is a valuable resource for city bird watchers," Mayor Josh Cohen said. "The numerous species found in Annapolis is just one more example of our city's natural beauty and its enduring appeal."
Julie Curd is the owner of the Wild Bird Center store, which caters to those who enjoy the development of backyard habitats for birds and other wildlife. While focusing on Annapolitans' sensitivity to the environment, Curd's business provides a wide variety of environmentally safe items, hobby accessories and nature related gifts.
"Ms. Curd's enthusiasm is refreshing and I applaud her entrepreneurial spirit," said Lara Fritts, Annapolis and Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation president and CEO. "The Annapolis area is a haven for this type of woman-owned unique retail business."
As a nature enthusiast and amateur nature photographer, Curd made the decision to leave her 20-year career as a corporate manager to pursue a path of entrepreneurship. Her search for a small business opportunity led her to the Wild Bird Center of Annapolis. "I am thrilled to open a business which aligns with my own passions and interests while also enhancing the lifestyle of others in the Annapolis community," Curd said.
