The scholarships, funded by the Indianapolis-based Lilly Endowment Inc. and administered by the Independent Colleges of Indiana, provide full tuition, required fees and a special allocation of up to $900 per year for required books for four years of undergraduate study leading to a baccalaureate degree at any accredited Indiana public or private college or university.
The applicant must:
Be a La Porte County resident.
Intend to pursue a full-time baccalaureate course of study beginning in fall 2012 at an accredited Indiana college or university.
Submit a complete application to the Unity Foundation by 5 p.m. Jan. 17.
The scholarships will be awarded based on demonstrated service to the community, leadership ability, demonstrated commitment and motivation to succeed in academics, employment history and financial need. Personal interviews will be conducted with a select group of finalists. Non-traditional students (those who have been away from high school for any period of time) are encouraged to call the Unity Foundation to see if they meet eligibility requirements.
