Maybe one day Ryan Grant will view his championship ring from Super Bowl XLV as more than just another piece of expensive jewelry.

Until then, the 3.35-carat diamond-studded prize he received when the Packers raised the Vince Lombardi Trophy 10 months ago will remain a souvenir stored away for safe keeping at the former Don Bosco standout’s home.

Grant was on the sideline injured and not the field for the victory, so he does not feel at all deserving of the spoils.

"I recognize and I appreciate what the ring symbolizes, but other than that, it doesn’t really mean that much more to me," Grant said. "Because I feel like, I got it and I think rightfully so we got one - the guys that were injured - but in a sense I don’t feel I necessarily earned it. The goal this year is to earn one."

His Packers certainly have done nothing to hurt their chances of doing that so far, rolling along in their pursuit to perfection, the next stop on that road to NFL immortality coming Sunday against the desperate Giants at MetLife Stadium.

Dec. 2 (Bloomberg) -- Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., the world’s biggest maker of generic drugs, may profit on sales of versions of Pfizer Inc.’s Lipitor without being involved in the medicine’s production or marketing.

Teva will share profit from the first six months of sales under an agreement with Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd. India’s biggest drugmaker didn’t disclose terms of the agreement when announcing U.S. clearance to sell generic Lipitor yesterday.

The approval means Ranbaxy convinced the Food and Drug Administration that its copies were equivalent to Pfizer’s original and shouldn’t be stopped by a dispute about plant violations in India. Teva isn’t supplying ingredients for the copies, which will be made by Ranbaxy, said Denise Bradley, a spokeswoman for Petach Tikva, Israel-based Teva. That’s prompted some analysts to speculate on the reason for the deal.

The trifecta of holiday bargain days - Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving and arguably the busiest shopping day of the year), Small Business Saturday on Nov. 26, and Cyber Monday on Nov. 28 - is surely not to be ignored, but keep in mind that the Internet has made shopping a 24/7 bargain bonanza.

Online retailers are optimizing their sites, beginning their marketing and promotions early, and planning plenty of free-shipping promotions as they aim to provide value and convenience for their shoppers, according to Fiona Swerdlow of Shop.org. "Online retailers will also leverage their social media and mobile platforms for savvy shoppers on the go, knowing how important customer reviews and comparison shopping applications are to holiday shoppers."

Big-box retailers such as Target and Macy's will open at the stroke of midnight on Black Friday to get in additional holiday shopping hours. J.C. Penney, on the other hand, is sticking with 4 a.m. except at stores in malls that are opening earlier.

Other retailers are waiting to announce their plans.

Layaway plans have re-emerged from the shopping days of yore as consumers work to eliminate credit card debt.

Fear over European banks' exposure to risky government debt stalked markets and harried bank executives on Friday, as unsecured lending between banks evaporated and the cost of secured loans rose.

Dwindling trust between the banks is forcing them to rely more and more heavily on the European Central Bank (ECB) to fund their activities, which in turn is spooking investors concerned about the health of the countries funding the ECB.
